Phishing Emails

Project Specifics: With all of the negative press around data breaches, your company is doubling down on computer safety. You have a current course, but analytics show that users aren't engaged.

Action Map- Miro

I developed an action map and define the overall goal. I guided the expert to identify actions that instructors and sales associates would take to go through a customer service recovery experience successfully.

Text Based Storyboard- Miro

Once the action map was approved and defined specific actions, I worked to develop a text-based storyboard to create the necessary information for learners' understanding and the scenarios based on that content. As the learner goes through the scenario, each option proposes 2 actions: a correct choice and a distractor.

If the learner chooses the correct action, they will see the positive feedback and continue with the content. If a wrong action is selected, the learner will see incorrect feedback and be guided to the misconception.

Working and receiving feedback from the experts and leaders helped me develop realistic scenarios. We focused on creating a story that mirrored the experiences in the studio. This helped provide the “why” when making correct choices.

Visual Storyboard- Articulate Storyline, Vyond, Visme, Miro, Adobe Illustrator

When I was confident that my storyboard laid out an engaging, learner-centered experience, I moved on to the visual decision step of the process by creating mockups for my vision and iterating on them.

My main objective was to include visuals and scenes that helped tell the story while maintaining a balance of verbal, visual, and auditory information.

I made base slides, slides for questions, and correct and incorrect consequence slides. I iterated on these slides until all visual and instructional information flowed together seamlessly and made sense for the learner.

Creating these mockups was one of the most exciting parts of the design process because it’s where I started watching my instructional vision come to life. With each iteration, I watched as my experience became more and more learner-friendly and visually appealing.

Interactive Prototype- Articulate Storyline 360, Vyond

Visual Storyboard_edited.jpg

I used Articulate Storyline 360 to create the interactive prototype for this project. The prototype consisted of the opening screen with user input, and an introduction video leading to the main content.

This project continues with scenario interactions and a customizable game-based assessment. I wanted the learner to choose their visual path for more variation to this project. I received feedback to address any user interface issues with buttons, states, and functionality.

I conducted additional testing after applying the necessary changes from the feedback I received. Once the prototype was finished, I moved the project into full development, working in Articulate Storyline 360.

Full Development

I developed the final project in Articulate Storyline 360 with the addition of Vyond. I created custom visuals in Vyond and Adobe Illustrator from assets in an image repository. The learner must complete and pass the scenario experience and game-based assessment.

Key Features

  • Custom Visuals: To create an immersive learning experience, I created visuals that take the learner into real-world phishing examples as they navigate the scenario. To achieve this immersive experience, I created some images using Adobe Illustrator, created custom characters, office scenes and engaging game-based quest in Vyond.

  • Interactive Elements: In the Storyline development, I used several transition effects, state changes, interactive markers and drag and drop interactives to accomplish the panning and zooming action in the slides.

  • Supporting Visuals: I designed supporting visuals for the question and answer slides using Vyond and interactive drag and drop icons.

  • Quest Game-Based Assessment: The learner is brought into a quest where they must beat the phishing hacker by progressing through the game. To progress to new quests, the learner must answer questions in order to advance. When the learner chooses the correct actions in the warrior is moved to the next phase of the quest. When the learner successfully gets to the end of the experience, they will have beaten the phishing hackers.

  • Choice Feedback: As the learner navigates the experience, they will receive feedback for their choices. When they choose the correct answer, it will reinforce why their action would be a good choice.

If the learner chooses an incorrect choice, it will provide them feedback on why their decision is incorrect. For each incorrect and correct choice, the learner will be brought to a "show me" slide layer that will explain why the choice was either wrong or right. If the learner does not pass the quest, they are looped back to try again.

Final Testing

I conducted final testing by having a small pool of learners participate by completing the scenario-based eLearning experience. I wanted every person who would interact with the learning experience to provide feedback from the learning experience.

The feedback provided from the testing helped make final adjustments to the course before it was launched. Additional feedback from the testing consisted of minor button functionality tweaks, adding a direction layer to the scenarios, and final adjustments to the quest story.

This process ensured that the tool functioned correctly for the learners and provided the client with a quality product.
